The Infiniti Essence is a 592 hp hybrid show car. The car has been in the US since 2009, and has done the show car circuit a few times. This was my first chance to see the car up close. It looks like it is built on a Nissan GT-R chassis. So its possible, this could be a future Nissan GT-R,or Infinitisupercar.

Koenigsegg might be a name you have never heard of. They are a semi- obscure Swedish super car manufacturer that tried to purchase Saab in 2009 from General Motors. However, they never carried though with the sale.
The CCR was produced from 2004-2006 by Koenigsegg, so this car is pretty rare. It was also listed as the “fastest production car” in the world, in 2005 to 2006 when the Bugatti Veyron beat it. Power is listed as 896 hp, and weight is listed as 1180 kg (2601 lbs) dry giving it an impressive power to weight ratio.

On February 28, 2005, at 12.08 local time, the Koenigsegg CCR broke the production road car speed record, achieving a new official top speed of 387.37 km/h (240.7 mph) at hoi Italy's Nardo Prototipo proving ground. A team of five Koenigsegg engineers and mechanics together with founder Christian von Koenigsegg ran a technically standard CCR, driven by famous supercar test driver and veteran record breaker Loris Bicocchi.

In this video, from 2nd gear, the CCR clearly walks away from the Nissan GT-R at higher speeds. From the 1st gear roll, the CCR spins the tires , and then again in 2nd gear, giving the Nissan GT-R enough space to keep it out in front. With nearly 900 hp, and more than 1000 lbs lighter than a GT-R, its suprising the CCR didn’t pull harder on the Switzer P800 GT-R. I was just reading about a Switzer GTR 1RK 1000+hp GT-R on Nagtroc today. Heres a sneak peak video.

Citroën GT Priced at $1.8 Million, Six to be Produced

Polyphony Digital’s Citroën GT is set to become one of the most expensive “production cars” (if you can really call it that…) sold today, coming in at £1.1 million pounds or approximately $1.8 million U.S. dollars. AutoCar got the scoop from “senior inside sources”, who revealed that only six of the cars will be made - all of which will be powered by either a “Ford or GM V8″. That’s considerably less than the 20 production models that were hinted at before, but according to AutoCar, “most of the concept’s features should make the final production version, including the carbon-fibre construction and eccentric interior details such as the copper trim.” Sweet! The final production version of the car is expected to be launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.

It's equally as important to know what not to say to a salesperson who is vending a product that is under $100,000 as it is to know how to establish an honest, comfortable, trusting, and long term working relationship with a car salesman who works exclusively with luxury high-line automobile products (that can reach millions of dollars per automobile or car collection). Real exotics dealers are sales professionals looking to retain you as a client for a long duration. They expect customer loyalty from you and in return will provide exemplary service. If they don't know you or trust you as a professional friend or private person, they can't adequately represent your highest and greatest good when it comes to making investments. Of course, there are always those dealerships who offer "bad apple" salesmen or "poor management style" exceptions, but for the most part, the exotic car world is a small niche market industry where each group or executive relies on gaining business from word of mouth reputation. A few quick phone calls to exotic car owning friends should quietly steer you in the right direction regarding finding the right sales people who can access the type of inventory you want to purchase and are trustworthy to work with on a long-term basis.

Sant’Agata Bolognese, 7 June 2009 – Automobili Lamborghini announces its
intention to complete its program of environmental sustainability in record time by
presenting new plans which will enable the company:

• to achieve a 30% reduction, by the year 2010, in the CO2 emissions produced
by its factory
• to achieve a 35% reduction, by the year 2015, in the CO2 emissions
produced by its vehicles

The plans for reducing emissions will thus involve two areas: modifications to the
Lamborghini factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese, and development in vehicle design.

To redefine its industrial processes in accordance with its policy of environmental
sustainability, Lamborghini has just begun a project to complete installation of a large
photovoltaic system by the end of 2009.

The roof-top plant will produce 1,582 Megawatt hour (MWh) of “green” energy per
year, which translates into a 20% reduction in CO2 emissions (-
1,067,820 Kg/year) by 2010.

The photovoltaic systems will have a total installed power rating of
1,4 Megawatts and will extend over 17,000 m2 throughout the entire industrial area.
The new system will be built by Sinergia Sistemi S.p.A.

At the same time, an equally important energy conservation project involving
insulating the production facility’s whole roof, improving lighting and heating and
introducing destratification systems for heated air will be completed, thus resulting in
a 10% energy usage reduction by 2010.

These projects represent the next step in a program that began last year with the
opening of the new Lamborghini
Logistics Center. The Center has already contributed to diminishing the impact
caused by heavy truck traffic on the roads between Anzola and Sant’Agata Bolognese.
It is calculated that this facility has achieved a reduction of emissions by over 75 kg
per annum, and nitrogen oxide by over 750 kg (Sources: Standard Euro 3).

In April 2009 Lamborghini obtained the UNI EN ISO 14001 certificate, meeting
the international environmental standards. It is also the first firm in the Italian
automotive sector to be close to registering for the EMAS environment certificate,
having successfully completed the program: EMAS regulations are set by the
European Union to support organisations in their effort to evaluate and improve
their own environmental efficiency.

These recent achievements support Lamborghini’s commitment to protecting the
environment in which it operates, and its desire to make all stakeholders aware of
its actions in a transparent manner.

With regard to Lamborghini vehicles, the CO2 reduction plan aims for an additional
35% decrease in emissions by the year 2015.

The program reached its first milestone with the Gallardo LP 560-4. Introduced
last year, the new car’s technical advancements resulted in an 18% reduction in CO2
emissions.

At this point, Research & Development activities will continue in the following
directions:

- decreasing vehicle mass
- improving combustion
- reducing friction
- Start-and-Stop systems
- hybrid drive train solutions
- biofuels

Lamborghini’s commitment and its sense of social responsibility regarding the
environment is evidenced by the numbers and by the sheer size of the investments
that are planned. 35 million Euros will be appropriated over the next five years for
this purpose.

Stephan Winkelmann, the President and CEO of Lamborghini, has said, “Despite
the difficult situation in today’s global economy, Lamborghini is committed to its
policy of environmental management, since we are well aware of the great
opportunities that derive from it. We have an objective to reduce CO2 emissions to
the greatest possible degree. We have also set compulsory annual goals that are part
of an integrated approach both considering the automobile as an element which is
more considerate of the environment, in terms of emissions and the use of
resources, to the accomplishment of a series of corresponding measures such as
modifications to our factory. This is an important action for Lamborghini and a
central opportunity for our long term corporate and product development.”

European Parliamentarian Guido Sacconi, President of the European Commission
on Climate Change, recently paid a visit to Lamborghini headquarters in Sant’Agata.
At that time, he said that, “The commitment shown by Lamborghini with its efforts
to reduce environmental impact and develop vehicles with less polluting
technologies confirm the company’s goal of following the right path toward
complying with the directives of the European Union. To safeguard the DNA,
history and technology of niche car manufacturers on a European level, a series of
exceptions have been passed for manufactures of ’specialty’ vehicles (with fewer
than 10,000 new cars made per year) who run their own production facilities and
design centres, even though they are part of a group of associated producers. This is
the exact situation in which Lamborghini finds itself. We have been particularly
satisfied with the actions it has taken thus far, because they illustrate this company’s
desire to embrace a new industrial vision which combines competitiveness and
performance with social responsibility.”

This one-off, apparently spotted in Dubai's Mall of the Emirates (the same location where the Pegaso edition was seen), appears to have been made by Bugatti at its Molsheim headquarters for what is doubtlessly a very wealthy customer in Dubai. The car is painted in French Racing Blue, the most iconic of Bugatti colors, accented by brushed chrome trim all over and the wheels look similar to those employed on the aforementioned Hermes edition. Company founder Ettore Bugatti's signature is repeated on the door panel as well as in the interior and on the door sill plates. No telling if this special EB edition Veyron has had any mechanical changes, but we wonder how much more special a Bugatti can be expected to get.

Super car test on the Nurburgring Nordschleife. Journalists borrowed 5 stock exotics from their owners and ran them 'round the Nurburgring to see which was the fastest. Each car was set to factory specifications (at least 2 have adjustable suspension systems from the factory) and given the same amount of fuel (for weight purposes). It's a flash site so you can't link directly but the video is very good quality.

Test driver Marc Basseng tried to better his 7:33 lap in the Koenigsegg but it started to rain. The Nordschleife is so long though (13+ miles) that half the track can be soaked and the other half can be completely dry, so he decided to keep pushing thinking he could outrun the weather, he came over a blind crest, hit a puddle, spun the car and put the CCX into the wall. They conveniently left that out of the video. Also the Zonda F was the 2nd fastest of the group but when the techs went over the car they realized the fuel lines were partially blocked with debris. They think it could've gone faster than the Maserati MC12. And speaking of the MC12, it should be noted that the MC12 shares it's motor and chassis with the Ferrari Enzo, but the MC12 was faster than the Enzo despite being heavier, having steel brakes instead of the Enzo's carbon ceramic ones and having less power. The Enzo's electronic damper system apparently crapped out less than half way through his laps every time he took it out onto the track and he basically drove the car on springs as the dampers refused to work. The car was taken to a Ferrari dealership afterwards for a diagnostic and they couldn't find anything wrong. They techs think the system was taking such a beating it just went into limp home mode halfway around the track.

Lamborghini have released their most exclusive car to date at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Reventon. In continuation of Lamborghini's naming their cars after bull's the Reventon is named after the bull which famously killed matador Felix Guzman in 1943. The Reventon is powered by the same 6.5 liter V12 as the Murcielago LP640 but gets an additional 20 horsepower now producing a total of 660 bhp and a top speed of 211 mph. The car features very distinct styling both inside and outside which is inspired by aircraft and the body is made entirely of carbon fiber as well as significant portions of the interior. The car features all LED and Xenon headlights which is a first in the automotive industry. Only 10 Lamborghini Reventon's have been built for the US, making it one of the most exclusive cars available today.

The Maserati MC12 is a grand tourer produced by Maserati to allow a racing variant to compete in the FIA GT Championship. The car entered production in 2004 with 30 cars produced (five of which were not for sale). A further 25 were produced in 2005 making a total of 50 cars available for customers, each of which were pre-sold for €600 000.

Maserati designed and built the car on the chassis of the Enzo Ferrari but the final car is much larger. The MC12 is longer, wider and taller than the Enzo Ferrari, which has faster acceleration and a higher top speed. The top speed of the Maserati MC12 is 330 kilometres per hour (205 mph) whereas the top speed of the Enzo Ferrari is 350 kilometres per hour (217.5 mph).

The MC12 was developed to signal Maserati's return to racing after 37 years.[9] The road version was produced to homologate the race version. One requirement for participation in the FIA GT is the production of at least 25 road cars. Three GT1 race cars were entered into the FIA GT with great success. Maserati began racing the MC12 in the FIA GT toward the end of the 2004 season, winning the race held at the Zhuhai International Circuit. The racing MC12s were entered into the American Le Mans Series races in 2005 but exceeded the size restrictions and consequently paid weight penalties.

"Moers won't say what elements are being considered for production, but carbon-fiber body construction will play a role at AMG in coming years. It is used for the hood, fenders, roof and trunk. The Porsche Carrera GT, which was introduced as a 2004 model, is a low, sleek, lightweight roadster that is as beautiful to the engineer as it is to the eye. Foul weather protection is also available in the form of two removable panels that can be stored in the front trunk.

Among the car’s unique features are its 5.7-liter, 605-horsepower V10 engine, its monocoque chassis with Porsche-patented engine and transmission mounts made of carbon-reinforced plastic and the first use of a ceramic composite clutch in a production car. The Carrera GT’s aerodynamic and race-bred suspension package provides safe and stable travel at speeds of up to 205 mph (330 km/h). The Carrera GT features the extensive use of lightweight materials, such as magnesium for the car’s substantial wheels and the frames of its special sport seats.

The result of such artistic and athletic equipment is a car that accelerates from a standing start to 62 mph (100 km/h) in only 3.9 seconds, reaches 100 mph (160 km/h) in less than seven seconds, 125 mph (200 km/h) in less than 10 seconds, and can achieve a top test-track speed of 205 mph (330 km/h).

Purebred Racing Engine

Porsche’s development center in Weissach, Germany, built a 5.5-liter, normally aspirated V10 engine for racing, and that engine’s bores have been enlarged to displace 5.7 liters in the Carrera GT. Maximum output is rated at 605 horsepower at 8,000 rpm, with peak torque of 435 lb-ft. The engine has a very low center of gravity, a 68-degree V angle and four valves-per-cylinder heads. The engine block serves as a load-bearing part of the chassis structure, yet is so strong that there is no distortion to the cylinder bores. Using dry-sump lubrication reduces the number of engine components and seals and also helps optimize weight and reliability.

The engine has a closed-deck configuration, a principle carried over from motorsports. This closeddesk architecture enables the cylinders to be cooled by internal water chambers that directly surround the cylinders. Three front-mounted radiators and cross flow cooling ensure optimum heat transfer even under high engine loads.

The engine weighs only 472 pounds (214 kg). The block, crankshaft and camshafts are all made of light alloys. The crankshaft is designed to operate at speeds of up to 8,400 rpm and is both forged and designed for minimum mass inertia and thus offers maximum torsional stiffness.

Race-winning Suspension Design

The chassis and suspension of the Porsche Carrera GT are based on the architecture of the Porsche GT1, the car that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1998. For example, as on the GT1, the rear track control arms of the Carrera GT are made of aerodynamically designed steel tubes. However, Porsche engineers did not forget the need for driving comfort on the street when they adapted such racing-bred systems for the road-going supercar.

Like a racecar, the Carrera GT uses pushrod suspension with double-track control arms at all four corners to give the Carrera GT its refined response and behavior, feeding forces smoothly and efficiently into the car’s chassis. Where many cars use MacPherson spring struts, the Carrera GT’s spring and damper elements are operated by stainless steel pushrods and pivot levers, which separate the guidance function from the spring action.

Functional Ambience is Interior Theme

Even with its racing-quality performance, the Porsche Carrera GT has a cockpit characterized by functional ambience and the extensive use of high-tech materials. Carbon, magnesium and leather dominate interior materials, with composite components either in their natural state or painted to match the magnesium pieces.

The car’s center console is made of composite materials covered in galvanized magnesium and features the chassis number imprinted on the surface. The shift lever is positioned about halfway up the console directly next to the steering wheel.

The seats are finished in smooth leather and have manual adjustment (fore, aft and height) because power motors would add unnecessary weight. The seats are made of a composite carbon shell. "It has always been a dream of mine," Roland Gumpert declares on his website, "to have a car that has so much downforce, such aerodynamic efficiency that you could drive on the roof of a tunnel at high speed--and this car can." We have to believe him, because Gumpert is the ex-competitions chief of Audi's Quattro division, and helped lead the four rings to the victories that got the Coupe Quattro banned from competition. The Gumpert Apollo uses a 4.2-liter V-8 sourced from the bossman's old company, but two massive turbochargers help it breathe a bit better in this application. The engine's 650 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque are routed through an F1-style sequential six-speed, and the 2420-pound supercar will hit sixty mph in three seconds and 124 mph in just under six more. But it's not all about pure power; the engine has been tuned for strong low-range torque for "connoisseurs who don't necessarily connect driving enjoyment with maximum motor performance and ultimate acceleration," says Gumpert.

Styling for the Apollo is similar to that of Chrysler's ME412 that won over Detroit crowds a few years back. It's low, mean, and proudly shows off its mid-engine configuration and 42/58 percent front-to-rear weight bias. It's engineered to the highest race car safety standards, and the interior looks the racing part, too. That is, other than the aftermarket CD/DVD stereo with an integrated rear camera for showing "how quickly overtaken cars disappear from view." Roland, you could probably just say that it's to help drivers back up. It's not an easy task with a five-point harness and no rear window.
